HOUSTON, Oct. 29, 2026
HOUSTON, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Hope, the corporate social responsibility initiative of Hyundai Motor America, is continuing its partnership with Texas Children's to advance child passenger safety and help families across Greater Houston access important safety education and resources. Now in its second year, the partnership includes a $25,000 Hyundai donation to support the child passenger safety program at Texas Children's Center for Childhood Injury Prevention.
"Safety remains a top priority at Hyundai and extends beyond the vehicles we build to the communities and families we serve," said Cole Stutz, chief safety officer, Hyundai Motor North America. "As we continue our partnership with Texas Children's, we are proud to help make trusted child passenger safety resources more accessible to families throughout Greater Houston and support safer journeys for children."
Child safety seats play an important role in protecting young passengers, but proper installation and use are critical. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of car seats and booster seats are used incorrectly, underscoring the importance of providing parents and caregivers with access to trusted child passenger safety education and hands-on guidance.
Child Passenger Safety Event
As part of the continued partnership, Hyundai and Texas Children's hosted a child safety seat check at the Steve Radack Community Center to support child passenger safety in the community. During the event, certified child passenger safety technicians (CPSTs) inspected car seats for expiration, manufacturer recalls and proper fit for each child. Families received guidance on the appropriate use of their child safety seats and, if needed, received a free replacement car seat.
"We are thankful for Hyundai's continued support and partnership," said Kristen Beckworth, manager, Center for Childhood Injury Prevention, Texas Children's. "Through their $25,000 gift, we can expand our lifesaving child passenger safety work even further. This support will allow us to provide hundreds of families with access to certified child passenger safety technicians, free car seat checks across Greater Houston, and most importantly, car seats and booster seats for families who otherwise could not afford them."
Texas Children's Center for Childhood Injury Prevention serves as the lead agency for Safe Kids Greater Houston. The program operates more than 20 inspection stations, trains nearly 50 car seat safety technicians annually and distributes more than 1,000 car seats to families in need. The program also provides education, safety seat inspections and access to car seats for families across the Greater Houston area.
