WOONSOCKET, R.I., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As New York responds to an ongoing measles outbreak and statewide disaster emergency, CVS Health® (NYSE: CVS) is reminding residents that measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations are available for eligible patients at CVS Pharmacy® and MinuteClinic® locations across the state. Eligible patients can receive MMR vaccinations at more than 530 CVS Pharmacy locations across New York, with additional vaccination services available at MinuteClinic locations.

"Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of measles and protect the health of our communities," said Amy Compton-Phillips, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for CVS Health. "We encourage New Yorkers to check that they and their families are up to date on recommended vaccinations and to take advantage of the convenient access to care available at CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations across the state."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, measles spreads easily through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms may include a high fever that can exceed 104°F, cough, runny nose, red, watery eyes and a red, blotchy rash and can appear seven to 14 days after exposure but may take up to 21 days to develop.

Measles is one of the most contagious infectious diseases. According to the CDC, up to 9 out of 10 unprotected people exposed to the virus may become infected. An infected person can spread measles to others even before knowing they have the disease—from four days before developing the measles rash through four days afterward. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles.

The MMR vaccine may provide some protection if given within the first three days (72 hours) after exposure to measles. Anyone who has not been vaccinated should receive the MMR vaccine to help protect against future exposure to measles, mumps and rubella. The CDC recommends two doses of the MMR vaccine, typically administered at 12 to 15 months of age and again at 4 to 6 years of age.

Patients ages 3 and older can receive an MMR vaccination at CVS Pharmacy locations throughout New York. At MinuteClinic, nurse practitioners and physician associates can administer the recommended second MMR dose for children ages 4 to 6. The first routine dose, typically given between 12 and 15 months of age, is not available at CVS Pharmacy or MinuteClinic.

While walk-ins are welcome, patients are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Health app to help ensure vaccine availability. MinuteClinic appointments can also be scheduled at MinuteClinic.com.
