MDPI Journals Are Now Indexed in Scite & Discoverable Through the Scite MCP, Giving Researchers Cited Access to MDPI Content in Claude, ChatGPT, & Other AI Environments
BASEL, Switzerland and HENDERSON, Nev., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- MDPI, the open access (OA) publisher, and Research Solutions (NASDAQ: RSSS), a leading provider of AI-powered scientific research tools, announce a collaboration to index MDPI's journal portfolio in Scite and deliver it through the Scite MCP. The agreement makes research published by MDPI discoverable via the AI tools researchers already use, with attribution, links back to the Version of Record, and article-level usage reporting for the first time.
Researchers increasingly initiate literature discovery within AI assistants rather than traditional search interfaces. Currently, published research in these tools is referenced without consistent attribution, without a link to the authoritative article, and without publisher visibility into content usage and user demographics.
The Scite Publisher Gateway provides the infrastructure for publishers to solve those challenges. Once indexed, publisher content surfaces in AI responses with citation context and direct links to verified article text, with attribution metrics reported in the publisher's dashboard. Since launching earlier this year, the Scite MCP has served over 22 million requests, with monthly volume growing more than 30% month over month.

- Discoverable through the Scite MCP using Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and other MCP-compatible AI tools. Research Solutions will manage indexing, transformation, authentication, and integration; no technical lift required from MDPI.
- Represented accurately, with AI responses grounded in verified article text and linked to the Version of Record on MDPI's platform. This approach reduces the risk of hallucinated or misattributed findings.
- Measured through article-level analytics that indicate which articles are accessed, by which organizations, and across which AI platforms.
