WASHINGTON, D. C. , Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation® (GAP), announced today that Dr. Jeffery Greenberg is joining GAP as the Medical Director and Principal Investigator of Axiom Brain Health (Axiom), GAP’s clinical research site in Tampa, FL. Dr. Greenberg succeeds Dr. Susan Steen, Axiom's longtime Medical Director and a Tampa Practitioner, who will retire at the end of the year.
GAP is a contract service and support organization and a leader in the design and execution of precision clinical trials in neurology. GAP collaborates with a worldwide network of more than 76 clinical research sites, including several that it owns and operates.
"We are deeply grateful to Dr. Steen's enormous contribution to Axiom Brain Health and the Tampa community over more than 40 years. We wish her all the best as she begins her retirement at the end of the year," said John Dwyer, President of the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation. "Dr. Steen will work with Dr. Greenberg to ensure a smooth transition and to introduce him to what makes Tampa such a special place.”
"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Greenberg to the Axiom Brain Health team and the greater GAP family," Dwyer added. "His extensive clinical and research experience, combined with his enthusiasm for innovative approaches, will fuel our efforts to make our research programs more precise and productive. We are confident he will build on Axiom's legacy of excellence while shaping its future, and that his expertise will greatly benefit our participants as we continue our commitment to innovation and person-centered care."
Dr. Greenberg brings more than two decades of experience in clinical neurology. He completed his neurology residency and fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and spent the past 23 years in clinical practice, treating patients in New Jersey with a broad range of neurological conditions while also serving as an investigator on numerous clinical trials. He has now stepped away from clinical practice to dedicate his time and expertise fully to clinical research at Axiom Brain Health, taking on responsibility for the site's portfolio of Phase II–IV trials in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia with Lewy bodies, and other neurodegenerative conditions.
Honoring Dr. Susan Steen's Legacy
The appointment also gives GAP the opportunity to recognize the contributions of Dr. Susan Steen, who has led Axiom Brain Health for decades and whose expertise and leadership have shaped both the site and its standing in the Tampa research community.
Since Axiom became a GAP owned-and-operated site in 2024, and under Dr. Steen's leadership, the Tampa facility grew from a single 1,700-square-foot suite serving a team of six to a three-suite, 3,900-square-foot facility supporting 15 specialized research professionals supporting a growing list of clinical trials— the kind of expanded capacity GAP is working to replicate across its network. Dr. Steen will remain closely involved with Axiom through the full transition of responsibility, expected to be complete by the end of 2026, supporting Dr. Greenberg and the broader handoff of site leadership.
"It has been a privilege to serve as Medical Director and Principal Investigator, and I am delighted to welcome Dr. Jeff Greenberg as my successor," said Dr. Susan Steen. "Dr. Greenberg has demonstrated not only outstanding clinical expertise, but also the compassion and integrity that define exceptional patient care. I have full confidence in his ability to lead our research program into its next era, and I know our research volunteers and staff are in the best of hands."
