SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sutter Health today announced that Christina Oh has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer. She will expand her operational leadership role at the not-for-profit, integrated health system as it continues to enhance access, strengthen performance and advance more coordinated and advanced clinical care close to home for patients and communities.
Oh currently serves as president of Sutter Health’s Greater San Francisco & East Bay Division, where she has expanded physician and clinical capacity, and helped advance major investments designed to make high-quality care more accessible to patients.
She will serve as dyad partner to Sutter Health Chief Physician Executive Dr. Todd Smith, co-leading Sutter’s clinical and nonclinical operations. Together, they will oversee system performance and work with physician, nursing and administrative leaders across Sutter to advance a more comprehensive, coordinated and integrated care experience.

As COO, Oh will oversee Sutter’s division operating structure, service lines, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing and Sutter Care at Home, which provides home health and hospice care.
She will work closely with division presidents, enterprise leaders and care teams to strengthen systemwide performance, support continued strategic growth and expand access to hospital, outpatient and specialty care.

Oh joined Sutter Health on Dec. 1, 2023, as president of the Greater San Francisco Division. In September 2025, her responsibilities expanded when she became president of the newly integrated Greater San Francisco & East Bay Division, where she helped lead a broader regional strategy focused on expanding access, strengthening physician relationships and integrating care delivery.
Since joining Sutter, Oh has helped advance significant investments across the Bay Area, spanning physician recruitment, workforce development, expansion of existing care sites and development of new clinical facilities.
Among those investments is the Sutter Advanced Neuroscience & Spine Institute located at Mission Bernal in San Francisco, a new destination for advanced neurological, neurosurgical and spine care expected to welcome patients in 2028. Oh has also helped advance broader growth across the region, including stronger collaboration among medical groups, expanded relationships with independent physicians and continued investment in specialty care.
Before joining Sutter Health, Oh served as president and CEO of HCA Healthcare’s Trident Health System in Charleston, South Carolina. There, she expanded the system’s acute and ambulatory footprint, built tertiary services and developed a people-first culture among employees and physicians.
She has been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baylor University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Oh will assume her new role as chief operating officer on Sept. 28.
