NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Newsweek, in partnership with global data intelligence firm Statista, today announced the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027, recognizing leading hospitals around the world for excellence in 13 specialties.
The 2027 ranking includes cardiac surgery, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, pulmonology, urology, and obstetrics & gynecology. Nephrology is included for the first time in 2027, expanding the ranking’s scope to help patients identify institutions with demonstrated expertise across an even broader range of specialized care.
Institutions earning No. 1 rankings include Cleveland Clinic’s Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute; Hospital for Sick Children; Mayo Clinic – Rochester; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin; and The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

While many globally renowned hospitals demonstrate strength across multiple disciplines, the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals ranking provides patients and families with an additional resource when evaluating care for complex health conditions. The rankings are based on a combination of an international peer survey of health care professionals and managers, relevant hospital- and specialty-specific accreditations and certifications, and the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
The reputation component, which accounts for 83.5% of the scoring model, draws on recommendations from health care professionals within their respective areas of expertise. Accreditation accounts for 10% of the score, while PROMs implementation accounts for 6.5%. The PROMs component evaluates how hospitals collect, analyze and use patient-reported information to improve quality of care and support treatment decisions.
For 2027, the ranking recognizes the top 300 hospitals in cardiology and oncology; top 250 in pediatrics; top 175 in gastroenterology; top 150 in cardiac surgery, endocrinology, neurology, orthopedics and pulmonology; top 125 in neurosurgery, urology and obstetrics & gynecology; and top 100 in nephrology.
