CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MIT Sloan Executive Education today announced the launch of “Crisis Leadership: Strategies for High-Stakes Decision-Making,” a new course designed to prepare senior leaders with the skills and frameworks needed to navigate complex crises, periods of disruption and rapidly evolving risk.
The two-day, in-person program will take place on MIT’s campus November 17-18. Led by MIT Sloan Executive Education faculty Steve Goldman and Sandra Galletti, the course combines real-world case analyses, executive frameworks and peer exchange. Participants will explore how organizations can prepare for disruptions, respond effectively as events unfold and emerge stronger afterward.
Throughout the program, participants will examine contemporary scenarios, including AI-enabled fraud, cyber incidents, supply chain failures, natural disasters, reputational crises, grid failures, executive misconduct and communications breakdowns. They will also explore how organizations can maintain operational continuity, preserve trust, coordinate across stakeholders and make sound strategic decisions under pressure.

Designed for board members, C-suite leaders and senior executives across all industries, the course addresses the unique demands of leading through high-pressure situations, including uncertainty, public scrutiny and accelerated timelines. The program is particularly relevant for leaders overseeing enterprise risk, crisis management, cybersecurity, operations, communications, legal and compliance, human resources, business continuity, strategy, finance, public affairs and regulatory engagement.
A defining feature of the program is an executive-level simulation during the final half-day. Participants will assume leadership roles and respond to a rapidly evolving, multi-layered scenario in real time, applying the frameworks and strategies covered throughout the course.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Understand the distinct leadership capabilities required to manage crises effectively at the executive level
- Strengthen decision-making under pressure in environments characterized by uncertainty, ambiguity and accelerated timelines
- Identify how organizations should prepare for crises before they occur, including governance structures, escalation pathways and communication protocols

- Assess the organizational, operational, financial, legal and reputational impacts of different crisis types
- Improve executive communication strategies for employees, media, regulators, customers and investors during high-pressure events
- Develop practical executive-level checklists and action plans to strengthen organizational resilience and crisis readiness
- Experience the pace and pressure of crisis leadership through an immersive simulation environment
