SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 31, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HoneyBook, the client relationship platform for independent businesses, today announced the launch of HoneyBook Business Phone & SMS, a paid add-on that gives members a dedicated toll-free business number for calling and texting with clients directly through the HoneyBook app.

The new service brings calls, text messages and emails into the same client record, alongside proposals, contracts, invoices and other project files. It is designed to help independent business owners keep their personal phone numbers private while giving them and their teams a shared view of client communication.

HoneyBook tested Business Phone & SMS with 140 businesses beginning in March 2026. According to company-reported data from the beta, SMS messages had a 98% open rate and an 80% reply rate, compared with a 10% reply rate for email. HoneyBook also reported a reply time of 10 minutes for SMS, compared with 5.5 hours for email.

“Independent business owners should not have to give clients their personal number or piece together conversations across separate tools,” said Oz Alon, CEO and co-founder of HoneyBook. “Client work often moves from a text to a call, and then to a contract or payment. Business Phone & SMS keeps that history connected to the client record, enables automated response workflows, and gives every team member the context to respond. We built it to give independent businesses the communications infrastructure that larger companies have long taken for granted, without adding another system to manage.”

Members can select a toll-free business number and use it for incoming and outgoing voice calls and two-way SMS. Voice calls are automatically transcribed and summarized by AI. Text messages can be sent from a HoneyBook project on desktop or mobile. Members can use saved message templates and Smart Fields, save drafts and see whether a message has been delivered. Contracts, invoices and other HoneyBook Smart Files can also be shared by text, with the recipient receiving a link to the relevant document.

Having easy access to customer text conversations, call transcriptions and summaries makes it easier for people to manage their businesses, and it also adds context to HoneyBook’s AI, enabling it to close deals faster and with higher conversion rates.

Business Phone & SMS also works with HoneyBook Automations. Members can configure workflows to send a text after a defined event, such as the submission of a contact form. Automated messages can be used to follow up on inquiries, send contracts, remind clients about payments or confirm project dates.

When an existing HoneyBook contact sends a text, the message is routed to that contact’s most recent active project. Messages from numbers that are not already associated with a HoneyBook contact are flagged as potential new leads. The business can then create a new contact, associate the number with an existing contact or mark the message as spam.

All team members on a HoneyBook account use the same business number, creating a shared record of client communication. Incoming calls are forwarded to the account holder’s phone number on file. Outgoing calls can be initiated from a contact record or project, with HoneyBook first calling the member and then connecting the client.

HoneyBook Business Phone & SMS is currently available to HoneyBook members located in the United States and supports messaging with U.S. and Canadian phone numbers.

The add-on is available with any HoneyBook plan. Pricing starts at $8 per month for 300 SMS messages. Additional tiers include 700 messages for $15 per month and 1,000 messages for $20 per month. Both incoming and outgoing messages count toward the monthly allowance, and unused SMS credits roll over. Every tier includes a dedicated business number, unlimited calls and access for unlimited team members.
